I Cry For Her
I carry gifts to my dear friend and her sons, from their wayward husband and father. Alha is a friend of my husband first, on meeting Sophia his wife, a beautiful friendship bonded between us, which spans across the seas. Now for almost eight years, her husband lives in New Jersey and she and her three boys in Egypt.
I carry a closed white plastic bag for her from this wayward man, for who she has been waiting these long eight years to return. With care she opens this white bag to find all the pictures of herself. I feel her pain swell within her, yet she closes the bag, and continues to speak, stands tall, and does not allow her tears to invade her eyes. Yet I know they are in her heart. I feel like I have betrayed her – yet I knew not of the contents of this tiny white plastic bag. If I had known, I would have thrown it in his face. How dare he do this to this beautiful and wonderful woman? And to do this by giving it to me is unforgivable.
She stands tall and bids good bye
And I cry for her.

APRIL 24, 2010 2nd response (INKY NIGHTS)
Inky nights
I've danced on Mt Siani
under the ink black night
cursing the dawn,
and fearing being alone
for I am not the true
Sunlight
Just an illusion
A spirit in flight
Romancing my passion
And dancing with pen
for all I have are memories
Of the last dance
In the inky night
Dancing in my mind
Of Mt Siani
And you
I've danced on Mt Siani
under the ink black night
cursing the dawn,
and fearing being alone
for I am not the true
Sunlight
Just an illusion
A spirit in flight
Romancing my passion
And dancing with pen
for all I have are memories
Of the last dance
In the inky night
Dancing in my mind
Of Mt Siani
And you

APRIL 12, 2010 POEM A DAY (MESA MATHRUH, EGYPT)
2010-4-12
For today's prompt, pick a city, make that the title of your poem, and write a poem. Your poem can praise or belittle the city. Your poem could be about the city or about the people of the city. Your poem could even have seemingly nothing to do with the city. But the simple act of picking a city will set the mood (to a certain degree), so choose wisely.
Mesa Mathruh, Egypt
Jingle, Jingle
Of the donkey drawn taxi carriages
Dowah, Dowah
Of the cotton candy man
Psst, Psst
Of the sales men boys along the beach
Swish, Swish
Of the aqua blue sea mingling with
The white, white powered sands
Scuff, Scuff
Of the ship-ships hitting the sanded road
Moo or Bah
Of the loose herds crossing the streets
Flutter, Flutter
Of kites flying higher than the
Mosque’s twin towers
The calling to worship
Five times a day echoing off the sea.
I listen to Mesa Mathruh
As she asks me where I’ve been.

APRIL 2, 2010 POEM A DAY CHALLENGE (BLUE HOLE)
2010-04-02

For today's prompt, write a water poem. The poem could be specifically about water or just include water somewhere within the poem. You could even write about water-based phenomenon, such as rainbows or water spouts.
The Blue Hole
Dahab - Sinai - Egypt
Step carefully with ship-ship, sandal or water shoes,
The water washed rocks are round
On which you place your feet.
Enter the Mia (water) with care and curiosity,
In hand is mask and snorkel.
Step lightly for all is alive beneath your feet.
Walk the hundred yards to the edge
Of the continental shelf.
Place mask upon face: insert snorkel within mouth,
Glide above the massive shelf.
The Red Sea is heavy laden in salt,
Making one buoyant, as if flying above.
Open your eyes and peer upon
Bushes of coral coloring the shelf’s walls,
In blues, pinks, greens, and whites,
Each it’s own colony of marine life.
Swim with the blue, black and silver fish
Close enough to touch.
See the hand of God, grace the water
As rays of silver white light dance
Before you, within the aqua blue sea.
Swim among the coins of transparent fish,
Sprinkled before you.
Spy upon the colored corals
Coming alive with it’s own colored fish.
Watch the fluorescent green fish
With ruby lipped smile,
Move his big yellow eye up to see
What fish you are?
Amazing the cast of color
Within the marine life,
God has placed
Around the blue hole.
