I Cry For Her

I carry gifts to my dear friend and her sons, from their wayward husband and father. Alha is a friend of my husband first, on meeting Sophia his wife, a beautiful friendship bonded between us, which spans across the seas. Now for almost eight years, her husband lives in New Jersey and she and her three boys in Egypt.
I carry a closed white plastic bag for her from this wayward man, for who she has been waiting these long eight years to return. With care she opens this white bag to find all the pictures of herself. I feel her pain swell within her, yet she closes the bag, and continues to speak, stands tall, and does not allow her tears to invade her eyes. Yet I know they are in her heart. I feel like I have betrayed her – yet I knew not of the contents of this tiny white plastic bag. If I had known, I would have thrown it in his face. How dare he do this to this beautiful and wonderful woman? And to do this by giving it to me is unforgivable.
She stands tall and bids good bye
And I cry for her.

APRIL 30, 2010 POEM A DAY CHALLENGE (LET ME GO)

this was written about my 2nd husband (I don't do husbands well) just before we were divorced, thought I would share this.

Let Me Go

I see no resolution
I feel no more
I place the cold steel blade
Against my wrist
It glides easily on my soft skin
One long horizontal slice
It runs like crimson paint
Spats upon the dirty white floor
My mind becomes quiet
As I watch my life flow
Over the dirty life I've led
I become sleepy
I am peaceful
For the first time in my life

I am waiting
Death to kiss
Me,
Hello
Bringing me to the World beyond

My husband screams and disses
Me again

I am awake
I do feel
I have done nothing
Except lose my life
By entwining it with his

It's mine to lose
I am gone
I am so gone
Let me go!

APRIL 30, 2010 SECOND RESPONSE (PATH'S END)

Path’s End
Where is the yellow brick road
That’s in a child’s dream?
Where is the line between
Morals taught/ Lessons learned?
Where is the blue horizon
Just as the storm arrives?
Where is the starry night sky
Just as dawn’s born?
Where is the gingerbread house,
That’s in fairy tale land?
Where is the dream of forever
That’s at path’s end!

APRIL 30, 2010 POEM A DAY CHALLENGE ( THE ENDING)

For today's prompt, write a letting go poem. The poem could be about letting go of a relationship; it could be about letting go of anger; it could be about letting go of a tree branch; or it could even be about, yes, letting go of this April challenge. There are so many things we can let go.

The Ending

always and forever is the time
which I am in your heart
no matter where
no matter when
I am forever your girl
when I am touched by you
my heart quakes
my skin quivers
my soul is consumed with a loving feeling.
my time is not yet right
my love is not here
I am awaiting the ending
so my beginning can come
to share the feelings I posses
the warmth I have to give
and it belongs to you
for I am and will always be
forever your girl.
